Buggy Licencing

The SPKA has had a training scheme in place for years similar to the PKA and FISLY system to allow Buggy pilots a basic race competancy licence, however since it has been in place there have been very few pilots interested in attaining it and the SPKA has not promoted it as it should. In 2007/2008 however there will be a number of licencing days depending on interest from pilots around the country.

Licencing days are availible to all SPKA members to attend and attempt and contain a short test on the basic race rules and a 30min practical 'mock race' which will see pilots moving around a short course to prove they can navigate safely with other pilots, be in control of kite and buggy and do simple turns (downwind gybes). Please insure you have regulation numbers on the buggy you will be using.

The rules are long winded and complex so we recommend you know the basics such as:
The flags
Prioritys such as upwind pilot raises kite, downwind pilot lowers their kite
Priority of the right and into and around turns
Restrictions on additional weight and sizes for a pilots buggy
Overtaking procedures
The race start procedure

For a full listing of the rules and regulations we test using the FISLY rule book of which a PDF version can be attained Here.
